Google Search plus Your World
Yesterday Google launched their newest and biggest change ever to their search results, Search plus Your World.
When you’re logged into your Google account a new row will appear just below the search box with a two buttons. The one on the left will activate personal results.
When activated your search results will be extremely personalized integrating content that has been shared with you privately and publicly in your Google Plus circles.
At this early stage Google Search plus Your World is not including results from Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites outside of Google. However Google has commented “they are open for this” during an interview with Danny Sullivan.
As we sponsor a free SEO and Internet Marketing Meetup in Phoenix that has close to 700 members so I thought it would be interesting to see how Google would display my personal results for the term “Phoenix SEO Meetup”
Just below the search box Google lists that I have 140 personal results displaying several thumbnail images of a few of our members.
Below this are photos from Google Picasa that have been tagged with my name.
Your results of course will be different than mine as Google is providing both private and public content from:
- Results based upon your personal behavior
- Results based upon your personal connections
- Private Google+ posts, images/photos from Piscasa
- Public Google+ posts, images/photos from Piscasa
- And of course general listings from the web
If you’re involved in Internet Marketing at all Google’s new Search plus your world is a big game changer and to be successful in this new search you MUST have your Google profile and other Google properties properly optimized.
