You Must Adapt to Survive the Panda Update
Are you still wasting time submitting articles to worthless article websites?
Prior to the Panda update writing, spinning and submitting articles to all those article directories such as EzineArticles, Article Base and Squidoo was a quick and easy way to build a ton of backlinks to your site.
However the effectiveness of this strategy came to a screeching halt on February 23rd the day Google released their first Panda update.
You may have noticed that EzineArticles, Squidoo, Article Base and many of those other article directories have all disappeared from Google’s SERPs and that the “link juice” from those articles has evaporated.
Another factor is Google became a lot smarter identifying footprints your articles spinner left behind.
Panda Drains the Cesspool
“The internet is fast becoming a cesspool where false information thrives. Brands are the solution, not the problem. Brands are how you sort out the cesspool.” – Eric Schmidt, CEO/Founder of Google
Brand, There is that Damn Word Again!
This whole brand thing sounds like bad news for many small businesses, startups and many other Internet Marketers but for those who understand the process of building an online brand it’s a golden opportunity.
Allow me to explain.
In the process of Google draining the cesspool of all those crappy sites, Google is also draining the cesspool of all those lazy black hat SEO marketers who have been gaming the system for so long.
You Must Adapt to Survive
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” – Charles Darwin
So can you, the small business owner, adapt?
First, throw away all those quick rich guides that all those other Internet Marketers sold you on recommending that you spam Ezine, Squidoo, and Article Base with 1,000’s of crappy spun articles.
Second, leverage the power of the search engines, blogs, social media and work on building your company’s branding.
This cumulative process creates an unstoppable chain reaction, the more people that come to your website, the more trust Google will pass on to your business’s website.
Do What Real Businesses Do!
Real businesses submit press releases about things happening in their company, publish articles on blogs that haven’t been smacked down by Panda and engage their audience using social media using Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
If your current online marketing isn’t working today just ask yourself this one question: “Does the content on my website suck?”
The bottom line in today’s digital world is that content marketing is key to building your brand.
Repurposing Your Content
The first place your original content should go is on your website
Then re-purpose it 7 ways without duplicating it.
This means that you do a mild rewrite of your content for other sites and not throwing it into some meat grinder that churns out 2000 different versions of crappy content.
The problem with most of these “meat grinder” article spinners is that most of the time the article is so unreadable to your human audience they don’t have a clue what you’re trying to say.
And Google’s solution to cleaning out the cesspool is using latent semantic indexing and tosses out suspect content from its index.
If you are going to use one of those content spinners I would ONLY recommend using The Spin Rewriter as it does use LSI in formulating closely matched terms and keywords for your article.
One word of caution.
Only use the Spin Rewriter manually as a tool to assist you in developing your repurposed content.
Where Do I Post My Repurposed Content?
The Google’s SERPS are continually in flux as to what is and not ranking, so I recommend first doing a search in your niche and find out what is working today and to figure out a way to publish your content on those sites.
One popular social media site that has come back since the initial Panda update is HubPages.
The reasoning is that HubPages is now using subdomains for article syndication and not the root domain.
So if your repurposed content is good, it will index using your subdomain of HubPages.
However for those who still continue to publish junk, your subdomain will not be penalized.
Consider writing a press release what is happening in your industry, a story about a product or service that you sell. Just remember to include the name of your company to increase your companies branding.
After you publish and repurpose your content be sure to share it with your contacts by sending out a tweet on Twitter, a Facebook post, or perhaps even making a YouTube video.
