He with the Most Backlinks Wins

In the last segment of our three part series “Content is King, Context is Queen and he with the most backlinks wins” we will discuss Backlinks.

What is a backlink?

There are two basic types of backlinks, back links on your own website and backlinks from other websites. In this video and article we will discuss both.

On Page Search Engine Optimization

On site SEO and creating backlinks on your own website is the easiest way to develop backlinks. You may have noticed in our many articles on our own website that we interlink other articles and pages together using anchor keywords.

Off Page Search Engine Optimization

Off page SEO can be a little more difficult as you need to get other links from other websites. One of the easiest way’s to do this is creating content on your website that is commonly referred to as link bait, in which your audience finds interesting so they will link your content on their own website(s) and share with their friends on Facebook, Twitter and other social media websites.

So why is this so effective and how does this work, let me give you an example using our three articles that we posted in this series.

Hopefully you have found at least one of our articles interesting and you decided to share it with your Facebook community. We now have one link.

Now one of your friends in your network decides to click on this link and read that article and they press the like button too. With each of these we are creating more backlinks to our article(s) but more importantly creating a tribe of real followers who will return to our website time and time again.

Now lets return to our first article in our three part series on content and I will ask you if you been successful in following through with the WordPress challenge of writing at least one new article a week for your blog and if you haven’t what has been stopping you?

One of the underlining reasons that many of our clients and I have been so successful online is that we “share the love” meaning that we interlink our articles with other appropriate articles on the same subject.

So consider writing an article on your blog about the WordPress challenge and how you’re taking part in this exciting way to increase the visibility of your website then come back to one of our posts, write a comment with a link to your new article.

And please remember this old adage moving forward into your Internet Marketing for 2011: “The moment that you stop showing your website love is the moment that Google is going to stop loving it too”
